CLIP BELT CONTEST Whenever a member loses a pound, they are given a paper clip. The winner is the member who gets enough paper clips to form a belt around her waist. This contest can take awhile so you may want to use big clips to speed things along. Also, don't forget, if the member has a gain, they have a clip removed from their belt. UNWRAP A GIFT A gift is brought in, wrapped in umpteen layers of paper. Each week, members who lose, have their names placed in a jar. A name is drawn from these losers and that person gets to unwrap a layer on the gift. When the final layer comes off, that person wins the gift.
TOPS ENTHUSIASM All members names go into a drawing each week. A name is drawn and if that member is wearing a tops bracelet or tops pin, they receive a dollar. This has nothing to do with whether or not they lose weight.
FRUIT BASKET Members who wish to participate, bring in a piece of fruit or other diet goodie, and place their name in a jar. A name is drawn and if that person has lost weight, they receive the fruit in the basket. Some chapters also have variations of this in which everyone can enter regardless of what they have done weight wise. BACK TO SCHOOL Using clipart, we made little schoolbusses for each member. The object was to get as many children aboard their bus as they could. (we used little circles for the children). They could earn one "child" for coming in with a loss or being at or under goal if they were a kops, Winner at the end of 6 weeks received a small prize TOPS NAME GAME Everyone writes their first name on a piece of paper. Ask them to come up with words about TOPS for each letter in their name. Go around the group and see what each member wrote. If they could come up with an appropriate word for each letter, they would receive a prize

ON THE BALL CONTEST We took a styrofoam ball and made little flags with members names on them. Then we put the flags on the ball. Each week if a member lost, their flag could stay on the ball, but if they had a gain or were not there, then their name came off. Last name remaining won a small gift.
FUNNY MONEY Each week, if someone comes in with a loss we give them $1 in play money. When they collect 5 play dollar bills, then they may trade it in for one real dollar.
APRON CONTEST We had someone make an apron with pockets in it for each one of our members. Those who wished to participate, put 25 cents in a pocket which was sealed shut and their name went on it. Each week if you gained, your name would come off. If you lost, your name would stay on. Last name on the apron won all the money in the apron OVER THE RAINBOW We took a piece of poster paper and drew a rainbow up at the top. Everyone had their name put on a balloon (we used clip art photos of balloons). Each week, if they came in with a loss, they would get to rise one length of their balloon. The one who reached the rainbow first won a prize MONEY IN THE BAG Those who wish to bring in 10 dimes. These are placed in a ziplog bag with the member's names on the label. Each week you lose, you get to remove a dime from the bag. The member whose bag is emptied first gets the money from everyone elses bag. KOPS have a separate contest where they remove a dime for being at goal or below. They do not have to lose SURPRISE BANK Buy a nice gift and put it in a box and wrap it very nicely. Each week members get a chance to put their name on a box (they used stickers) if they lost. You can give them several things to do to get more stickers on the box At the end of the contest, member who had their name on the box most often won the box . |
REALLY EASY AND CHEAP CONTEST This contest is based on the old stick figures you used to use when you played Hangman as a kid. Everyone's name goes on a piece of poster paper. When you come in with a loss, you get to start your stick figure. Each week that you lose, you get to add another part, (arm, leg, etc.) The member who gets their figure done first is the winner. BEACH BALL A large toy beach ball is purchased. Member's names are attached to the ball (we just used mailing labels) As long as you lost weight each week, you got to keep your name on the ball. If you gained or were not there, your name came off. Last name on the ball wins a small prize BADGE CONTEST One of our members made plastic canvas name badges for everyone. Each week that a member lost, she got a row of beads to hang to the badge. At the end of the contest (8 weeks), the one with the most beads on her badge won a prize. Also, the other badges were then taken and beads added to them so that everyone had a nifty name badge! BID A GIFT The chapter purchased five inexpensive gifts and wrapped them up. Each week, members could bid on the gifts. If they lost weight the next week, they won the gift they bidded on. If they gained, then they brought in a gift. (This keeps the contest running. WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? We used clipart images of dogs in a little kennel and made one for each member. Each week, a member could advance their dog (we used paw print stickers) 2 spaces - one for losing weight and one for bringing in an article, tip or recipe to share. If you got your dog halfway across the board, you received a small prize. The member who got their dog furthest across the board received a larger prize DUCK DYNASTY Members names go on a poster board. Each week they can earn up to 3 ducks (we used computer clip art to make stickers) You can get one for coming and staying, one for having a weight loss, and one for bringing in article to share. Member with most ducks at the end of 6 weeks wins. |
